How cool is this? Eco-chic boutique Modavanti took New York Fashion Week up a notch when they staged three flash fashion shows across Manhattan. A green carpet was rolled out and everyday passersby became front-row celebrities at the unsuspected events which each showcased twelve models rocking style that qualifies as either US-made, vegan, fair trade, energy efficient, organic, recycled, handmade, or eco-conscious. To me, this is the coolest thing that will happen all Fashion Week. I couldn’t make it into the city for any events this week, but if there’s one thing I wish I’d seen it was definitely this. Hats off to Modavanti for taking fashion to the public and sharing how meaningful design and conscious fashion totally deserves its own runway!
You can find the full story and more photos at Ecouterre and shop the designers (as well as some of the featured looks) at Modavanti.com. That amazing camel coat by Kristinit is probably my favorite piece, but sadly it’s way outside my price range. Still, a girl can dream!
