How to Wear a Scarf as a Dress

I’ve mentioned this particular trick before here on the blog – one of many favorite ways to style a scarf – but I don’t think I’ve ever given a detailed look at it. I came up with this look last autumn while living out of a suitcase during my east coast relocation, when weeks turned into months and I started to run out of outfit inspiration. On one particular day when the laundry had unexpectedly piled up I realized I was left with a tank top, leggings, and a cardigan for the day — and leggings, as we’ve all determined (me perhaps more vehemently than most) are not pants. Enter my gorgeous zebra print shawl. I started finagling with it and eventually constructed a tunic. I ended up getting quite a few compliments on it; thus, my clothing conundrum turned into an unexpected style moment. The trick is to choose a tank top or camisole underneath with a bit of Spandex to it, which will hold the edges of the scarf in place if it’s not quite long enough to tie behind your neck. It’s a perfect example of what a bit of creativity can do when you’re in a pinch – and even if you’re not!

Lady, this idea is not only creative, it’s fantastic! In a pinch or not, I think this makes for a wonderful fashion statement. I love it. Now if I could only find a scarf long enough. Any ideas where I can find one online? Have a nice weekend! :)

Brilliant! I would never know it’s actually a scarf!
