I suppose it’s only fitting for me to give in to a little bit of a French cliché. Jean Seberg in the 1960s Godard film À bout de souffle being major style inspiration for me as she is, I’ll always draw on the striped top and a-line silhouette. Add in some embellished flats and pops of red and I’m good to go! (And maybe some Jacques Brel or Juliette Gréco should be mixed in as well.) It’s ever the cliché, but it’s what sounds lovely. So why not? Black, white and red will always be a signature with me – nothing resonates more, for some reason. Should one be worried when red becomes a neutral?
Because it’s always a good idea to start your day with Pink Martini (the band, but if your thoughts went to the cocktail I won’t judge!) and since it’s been on my mind lately, here’s a little video I love. Embrace that lovely little French cliché. Fellow Francophiles, enjoy.

I love this outfit! Who cares that it’s cliche? It works and looks good. And you have to admit when rocking an outfit like this you feel good. Right?
Thanks, Gabbie! So true, it’s all about how you feel in what you’re wearing.
Ah, I’m so in love with the French. With French-ness. With the cliches
I wish I could hop on a plane today and fly off to Paris!
It’s just impossible not to love French-ness, I say.
I couldn’t agree more – someday, someday!
Definitely a style inspiration. I’m usually not a fan of french style inspiration in general, but I have to say, I like this.
Thanks, girly! It would look so cute on you, too!
Such a sweet and classic outfit- how could you not love it?
Also, I noticed that you switched up your blog layout a bit- I love that you’re always keeping it fresh and exciting!
Ha! Thank you, dear! The layout changes were a complete accident – I noticed something was wrong with the look of the blog on Friday night so I started fiddling around, and then I forgot how to actually undo the fiddlings I’d already done. So after I effectively ruined the layout I had to do damage control.
What’s worse, after all the effort it turned out that I’d forgotten to close an HTML tag in a post and it had affected the entire site. So the whole time I’d spent making changes I wasn’t even in the right spot, and it was a two-second fix! Never the luck. But I’m glad you like the new look! (:
