Many, many thanks to all of you who entered my Kathy Van Zeeland handbag giveaway as part of Little Fashion Week! I’m so glad you all liked the goodies up for grabs, and I truly wish I were Oprah (EVERY-BODY-GETS-A-KATHY!)…but I’m not. Congratulations to our fabulous winner, Holly! Dash me off an e-mail with your preferred shipping address, Holly, and I’ll send everything on to you as soon as possible!

Now then, I’m also excited (and admittedly a bit nervous) to share a new adventure with you all today…

Literary Inklings is a brand-new blogging endeavor by Yours Truly. As anyone who reads The Girl Who Stole the Eiffel Tower is aware, books are a very big part of my life; and as a result, they’ve become a part of this blog. It wasn’t my intention to write about books here when I first launched the site nearly two years ago, but my passion for reading and discussing books wiggled its way into my content and from there blossomed into wonderful opportunities. I’ve had the pleasure of working with authors I’ve long admired, as well as meeting some new favorites along the way, and in all having the chance to share my love of reading with the blog-reading world. I’ve loved every minute of it – and yet, nearly from the beginning I had the feeling that the book content didn’t quite fit within the premise of The Girl Who Stole the Eiffel Tower. It was discouraging at times when I felt confused about where I wanted this blog to go and failed to see its identity clearly. My interests are so widely varied, it’s impossible to include books of merely one subject here, books that coincide with the theme and mission of The Girl Who Stole the Eiffel Tower. When that happens…what’s a girl to do but begin a second blog? Thus, Literary Inklings was born.

Literary Inklings will not only serve as a dedicated location for the inane ramblings on my varied reading matter; my goal is to make it a place where readers can cozy up and immerse themselves in the world of literary arts. You’ll find discussion about new releases, seasonal reading lists, revels on characters both new and classic, ramblings on life as a bookworm, and commentary on film and television adaptations as well. You don’t have to be a voracious reader to enjoy Literary Inklings; whether your interest in books is that of a passion or an inclination, I hope you’ll find the new blog as welcoming as a cozy corner of a favorite bookstore – with lots of hot drinks and good conversation.

If you’re interested, feel free to stop over at LiteraryInklings.com and/or subscribe with the links above. Keep in mind that pages and exported content on the new blog are very much still under construction. I’m hoping to have everything all tidied up and an exciting new collaborative post with PBS published tomorrow, so check back on that. At present Literary Inklings does not have its own Facebook page – I had intended to change the name of The Girl Who Stole the Eiffel Tower on Facebook to house both of my blogging endeavors, but unfortunately Facebook doesn’t seem to think that’s quite a fabulous idea and they’re refusing me the option. So! For now you’ll find updates from Literary Inklings on The Girl Who Stole the Eiffel Tower’s Facebook page until I decide if I can honestly juggle yet another social media component. (Or if anyone tells me they’d like the blog to have its own Facebook page – I’m something of a pushover, so it wouldn’t take much.) You can also keep up with me on Twitter, as always.

As for The Girl Who Stole the Eiffel Tower, I’m excited to renew my focus on fashion and beauty in particular here, as was my goal when I started, as well as the (admittedly less-often) looks into food, decor and Audrey-inspired living! Thanks so much to everyone who’s continued to support my ramblings in the blogging world – here’s to yet more adventures!

As I mentioned on twitter, I am so so excited about this new venture of yours! Recently I’ve been thinking to myself that I need to spend less time on the computer and watching TV and more time reading. I used to be the girl who always had a book with her wherever she went and now I’m the girl who barely reads?! I don’t like that one bit. I thought about doing the challenge I’ve seen floating around the internet to read 50 books in one year, but honestly at the slow slow rate that I’m going, I don’t think I would make it! I am going to try to read as many books as possible, and at least one book a month. And I was thinking maybe I should join a book club, because then I would have a little pressure and be more accountable to finish a book? A lot of this came to me the other day when I had about an hour to kill, so I went to a Barnes & Noble. When I was in there, it reminded me of how much I love to browse bookstores and how I used to spend hours and hours there- I missed it so much!

Anyways, long story short, I need to read more and I think this is awesome :)

Aww, I can absolutely relate to you! The year I really fell in love with reading I read forty books in a year – I’m fairly certain it’s the most I’ve ever read in that time. Ironically, that was the year before I started blogging. Since then I’ve just had less and less time to devote to it, and for a while I even felt a little depressed because I thought I’d lost my passion for it. It’s so easy to get absorbed in other stuff – especially as a blogger, when time needs to be made for networking and maintaining our creative outlets. The majority of the books I read last year were by request of the authors, for review, and in that case you do feel a bit of pressure that really compels you to make the time for it, you know? But I’ve wanted to grow my reading time to include books that I choose as well, so that’s really my goal (and that still only amounts to one or two a month!).

Out of curiosity, are you a member of Goodreads? I can’t remember if you’re on there, but if not you might want to take a look! You can keep track of the books you’ve read, what you want to read, and in general it’s just a great site to visit to revitalize your love of books. You can enter contests, join discussions (there are even book clubs on there) and find recommendations. They also have a yearly reading challenge, but they let you set your own goal, which is awesome. I even got my mom to join it, and she loves it. ;)

Yay, thank you! ;)

P.S. I know you did a guest post for The English Muse and I’m so excited to read it – I just haven’t gotten the chance yet, and I didn’t want you to think I missed it. I think that was the very first blog I ever read, so needless to say I was ecstatic when I saw that you’d written over there!

Thanks so much, Jen! I don’t feel like I’m completely happy with the design, but I’m trying to be less picky. ;) I honestly wasn’t sure if it would garner a readership at all, but I’m thrilled with all the support from everyone! It’s definitely an encouragement.

Congratulations to Holly! I normally read your blog, but I never commented until today. Your new literary blog is beautiful and inspired me to create a new space for talking about books and my writing because I no longer discuss it on my regular blog anymore. I love both of your blogs and thank you for inspiring me.

Thanks so much, Laura! You’re too sweet. I don’t know how great I’ll be at handling the two, but we’ll see! Keeping an ideas file is helpful – whenever I think of something that might make a good post, I write it down in my planner – but in all I’m just going to try my hardest with it and hope for the best. Blogging’s always got to be fun first, right? ;)

Oh, no apology is needed! I think I’m the queen of being super behind, I feel like there’s always ten things I haven’t done at the end of the day. ;) Thanks so much for adding the new blog – I hope you enjoy it!!

(And I’m glad you like the name – I actually brainstormed it with my mom while we were on a twelve hour roadtrip recently. Ha!)
