May 2011

In honor of my “blogapalooza” I went shopping at a lovely boutique down the road, Francesca’s Collections. It’s such a charming place, bohemian and chic, and just one of the many locations the boutique has opened in its twelve years of business. They’re growing more and more, currently with locations in thirty-eight different states; you can find one near you at their website. The pieces I picked out are a real reflection of the sort of diversity you can find there: vintage-inspired hummingbird earrings, edgy metal earrings with an etched detail, a chic snakeskin bangle and a little notepad with seriously gorgeous shoes on them (it even comes with a little pen!). Additionally I stopped at a different store as well and picked up that cheery turquoise infinity scarf by Steve Madden. Some pretty lovely things, I think! And guess what? They’re for you!

Winners

The contest ends on Sunday, June 12th at 12am CST; winners will be announced Monday, June 13th. I’ll randomly choose a winner for each prize, after which I’ll pool the remaining entries and choose a fourth winner who will get the scarf and notepad together!

It’s been one year since I published the very first post that would launch The Girl Who Stole the Eiffel Tower. Little did I know it, because I didn’t actually name this blog until July. Prior to that, I was Casee Marie and this was my creative outlet, one that would encompass my personality, interests and perhaps even someday my writing. It took a while before Someday came around, but it finally did; now I’m continuing to grow as a writer, doing something I truly love with all my heart, and I’m eternally grateful to everyone who’s supported me and encouraged me along the way. Thank you to everyone who helped make this last year so special!

Summer means painted toes and beach reads – and a whole lot of other things. But is it wrong of me to admit that painting my nails and reading novels are some of my favorite pastimes, year-round and especially in the summer? I suppose I’m just easily entertained. Two years ago I went to the Printer’s Row Lit Fest in Chicago and I can’t help but attribute that to my special love of summertime reading. The festival is happening again next weekend (June 4th and 5th) so if you happen to be in the city make sure you check it out. The weekend plays host to plenty of events, workshops and a massive collection of vendors selling every sort of book you could imagine. If you’re a bibliophile like myself it will be like heaven on earth for you. I won’t be able to attend this year, but I can’t recommend it enough.

Now, on the subject of nail polish. One of my favorites is Piggy Polish, if not just for the adorable name than for the selection of over one hundred colors and the fact that each bottle comes with a little elastic and super-summery toe ring. It doesn’t get much cuter than that. You can see their full selection and customize your collection of favorites here at their site. And once you’ve done that you can order them right online! Currently my piggies are polished with Grin and Berry It, a bright and punchy orange-red.

In case you missed it, yesterday I was invited to guest at Love and Its Other Drugs by the lovely Stephanie, aka my blog twin. Steph has got one of the biggest personalities I’ve ever known, fueled by her unmistakable sweetness and positivity. If you’re not already following her blog do go check it out. My guest post was, of course, on the subject of books – summer reads in particular – and I shared my list of novels I’m itching to read this season. Check it out and share your list with me, if you have one!

Today I’m writing for the lovely Holly Knitlightly as part of a series of guest bloggers being featured while Holly is away on a fabulous European trip. In the spirit of her adventure I wrote about my top five European destinations – and they may not be quite what you’d expect. I included a bit of insight and history into each of my dream locations, and of course some swoon-worthy imagery. Come visit me over at Holly Knitlightly and see for yourself!
